Gigi went to a "New Year's Eve Party" ( a.k.a. babysitter with the other kids while Daddy and Mommy went out to dinner) at the Hoffer's. There was a great snack buffet featuring each kid's favorite snacks. After the adults returned, the countdown to midnight began. Yummy desserts and drinks were consumed. We introduced the effigy doll tradition to Gigi (doll representation of self with pictures/symbols of things to put behind one's self in the coming year which is ceremonially burned). Everyone shared their dolls, and burned them in the fire -- everyone except for Gigi. She decided she was taking hers home and keeping it forever. Party hats, noisemakers, and wands were shaken until the ball dropped at midnight. Everyone had a sparkling drink.
